Nuart, founded in Stavanger in 2001, is among the world's oldest street-art festivals; its 2011 edition brought 12 artists from nine countries across more than half a kilometre of wall. Vhils's piece departs from his portraits: plaster stripped to red brick yields a skull rather than a face, carrying his subtractive method down to bone.
