Tour Paris 13, curated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh of Galerie Itinerrance, handed a condemned social-housing tower in Paris's 13th arrondissement to more than one hundred artists before its demolition, turning a building awaiting redevelopment into a temporary monument to contemporary urban art. Vhils completed his contribution in June 2013: a subtractive process applied to a structure whose disappearance was already scheduled, carrying the imprint of the lives the tower had sheltered even as the city prepared to erase it. It was destroyed along with the building in 2014.
