Unveiled on 31 October 2023, for the 136th anniversary of the Port of Lisbon, the mural reinterprets a 1940 photograph by Roger Kahan showing a Jewish refugee beside a post box at the Rocha Conde de Óbidos Maritime Terminal. Kahan was himself a French Jewish refugee who passed through Lisbon while escaping the Second World War. Installed beside the same post box, which still survives today, the work reconnects the image with the place where it was taken and pays tribute to the thousands of refugees for whom Lisbon represented a passage towards safety.
