Exchange Street Station, at 258 Exchange Street, sits at the centre of Chicopee's industrial history. Vhils's bas-relief there, made with Beyond Walls in July 2023, honours the immigrant labour force that sustained the city's mills and drove its nineteenth-century growth, placing an anonymous mill worker at the centre of a civic story more often told through industry than through individual lives. The portrait is framed by the inscriptions "CHICOPEE" and "1848", taken from the historic municipal seal and marking the year of the city's incorporation. The mural is not a monument to one figure: it restores visibility to the generations whose labour transformed the Connecticut River valley.
