American Dreamers — Collab with Shepard Fairey

Vhils and Shepard Fairey made American Dreamers on the façade of Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake. Fairey's central image, Target Exceptions, addresses the obstacles faced by those seeking to enter or settle in the country, while Vhils' carved portraits bring individual lives into the composition, together addressing migration and the increasingly difficult promise of belonging in the United States. The collaboration draws its strength from the contrast between two processes—one built through the accumulation of graphic imagery, the other through physical removal—uniting them around a shared reflection on who is allowed to participate in the American dream. The mural was later translated into a lithograph produced at Idem Paris.
