Iminente Festival

Painted on the floor of an old roofless warehouse in the derelict industrial precinct in Lisbon where Festival Iminente was held in 2021, this work was created with a new technique Vhils has been exploring that makes use of paint applied in a grid-like arrangement in order to create a specific composition.
The composition of a pair of eyes peeking through the collapsing structure sought to represent our resilience and strength following the global pandemic. It paid tribute to everyone who, despite the circumstances, managed to create new forms of art, expression, and interaction – acts of resistance that kept us closer to each other, reflecting the same spirit that underlies Festival Iminente.
