A monumental eye covers the façade of the Filarmonica "Banatul" at Cinema de Vară Capitol, on Strada 20 Decembrie 1989, in Timișoara — Vhils' first intervention in Romania, initiated by Asociația DUNE in 2016. The building is a protected historic structure, an unusual context for the artist's subtractive technique. Carved directly into the building's fabric, the eye suggests observation and collective awareness without relying on narrative or portraiture, extending Scratching the Surface beyond figurative commissions and marking the practice's expansion into Eastern Europe.
