In Erriadh, Vhils's contribution to Djerbahood remembers Hmed Ben Yaala, recalled by residents as a man of memory, generosity and shared values whose quiet presence helped hold the community together — not a widely known public figure. Created for the open-air museum initiated by Galerie Itinerrance, the portrait follows the project's founding principle: each intervention should grow from a genuine encounter with the place and its inhabitants. Carved into the village's architecture, it turns a personal tribute into a collective act of remembrance, letting the wall carry a story already embedded in local life. The piece extends Vhils' practice beyond the excavation of surfaces to the human relationships that give places their lasting meaning.
