We Are Here

We Are Here (12 June – 17 November 2024) was the Petit Palais' first major street-art group exhibition, mounted as a free programme during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Curated by Mehdi Ben Cheikh (Galerie Itinerrance) and Annick Lemoine (Director of the Petit Palais), in collaboration with APAPUC, the show invited 60+ urban artists to dialogue directly with the museum's permanent collection, hanging 200+ works in a single Concorde-room scenography that referenced 19th-century Salons (Salon des Refusés, Salon d'Automne). Vhils's cut-poster portrait of an old woman was placed in dialogue with Fernand Pelez's "Sans asile" (1883).
