Doors of Cairo is Vhils' large-scale installation for Forever Is Now 05, Art D'Égypte's annual open-air exhibition, staged beside the Pyramids of Giza in November 2025. Built from reclaimed wooden doors collected across Portugal and Cairo, the piece is reassembled into a freestanding 14.5 × 5.5 × 5 m monument supported by metal scaffolding. Each door carries traces of the homes, shops and spaces it once belonged to, turning architectural fragments into a threshold between individual memory and collective history. Curated and produced by Nadine Abdelghaffar; documentary photography by José Pando Lucas.
