In 2022, Vhils travelled through the ancient Nabataean city of Petra and its surrounding desert for The Jaunt #093, an expedition documented by photographer José Pando Lucas that shifted his practice from intervention to observation. The trip produced two bodies of work: the Petra Series, waterjet-cut marble fragments reassembled by hand (Petra Series #01, 162 × 131 × 10 cm, 2022), and The Jaunt #093 – Purpose (2023), a riso print on 170 g black paper hand-finished with bleach, 42 × 30 cm, in an edition of 250 plus 25 AP for The Jaunt's artist edition programme. In both works, the stone itself carries historical and geological memory.
