Stoopid, released 29 April 2014 for Buraka Som Sistema, explores destruction as a performative act, outside the subtractive language of Scratching the Surface. Conceived by Vhils and co-directed with João Pedro Moreira, the video translates the group's fusion of kuduro and electronic music into a succession of high-speed physical events: bursts of red and yellow paint become sculptural gestures suspended in time. Filmed against the raw geometry of a dark tiled wall, it dispenses with narrative, letting colour, force and movement carry the track's energy. Following the earlier M.I.R.I.A.M. collaboration with Orelha Negra, the project extended Vhils' work with the moving image into film while staying rooted in the choreography of physical action.
