Cincinnati, USA / 2011 — Walls work, 2011, Cincinnati, United States

In April 2011, during a residency with BLDG in Covington, Kentucky, held in association with the Contemporary Arts Center, Vhils excavated a portrait of Tim Dwight — president of Motch Jewelers and a longstanding figure in downtown Covington's civic life — into the plaster of his building's façade at 301 W. 5th Street, downtown Cincinnati, exposing the brick beneath. By 2019 the surface had been covered with fresh concrete to stabilise the wall. The piece stands among Vhils's earliest works using the subtractive technique in the United States.
