Ethereal

Ethereal (2018) is a wall installation by Vhils on the exterior façade of GGA Gallery at Wynwood Walls, Miami. Four monumental portraits of anonymous faces are chiselled and carved into the white wall's layered plaster and pigment, using the artist's subtractive technique. The portraits emerge directly from the erosion of the surface, turning the gallery's architecture into both canvas and excavation site.
